Disrupted or disordered sleep can be associated with medical conditions, mental health disorders, medication use, substance abuse and a variety of other factors. Your sleep physician will take a thorough medical history and questionnaire to see the whole picture and may request an objective evaluation of your sleep before a diagnosis can be made. This may involve an overnight sleep lab study (polysomnography), other types of sleep studies and/or a home sleep study.

Identifying the causes behind poor sleep, followed by its appropriate management can not only prevent the development and /or progression of diseases and conditions ²², but allow you to get the restorative, regenerative sleep you require.

In order to see a sleep physician in Ontario, you will require a referral. Contact your family doctor or primary care practitioner and discuss your symptoms with them, and have them refer you to Airway ENT and Oral Surgery. They can access our referral form here.
